In this article, we’d like to explain to you how to automatically create filters based on product options, tag prefixes, and metafields.

The filters are automatically updated each time re-indexation launches.

Filters based on product options

To create a filter based on products' options such as Color or Size, please go to the Filters > Settings tab and specify option names in the Option names input field separated by commas.

After you specified the option names, click the Apply changes button, then go to the Dashboard section, click the Force re-indexation button and wait for the re-indexation to complete. Filters will appear in the Filters section.

Filters based on product tags

The Create filters by tag prefix feature allows you to create filters by tags that have prefixes. For instance, if you have tags like Color_red and Color_green, enter Color_ in the Create filters by tag prefix input field. The Color filter will be automatically created and red, and green variants will be included there.|

The Skip tags with this prefix feature allows you to exclude certain tags from the search results.

The Remove prefix from tag values feature allows you to automatically truncate certain tags deleting prefixes from them. For instance, if you have the Size_large tag, specify Size_ in this setting and the large variant will be displayed in your filter instead of Size_large.

After you specified tag prefixes, click the Apply changes button, then go to the Dashboard section, click the Force re-indexation button and wait for the re-indexation to complete. Filters will appear in the Filters section.

Filters by metafields

To create filters based on metafields, type the metafields to base the filters on in the Metafields input field separated by commas, use namespace.key format.

After you specified the metafields, click the Apply changes button, then go to the Dashboard section, click the Force re-indexation button and wait for the re-indexation to complete. Filters will appear in the Filter section.
